Cinnamon Orange Whiskey Smash

This recipe is "cinnfully" good and could not be simpler to make!

The original Whisky Smash, which uses muddled lemon and mint is tart and refreshing, making it a great Summer staple.

This version is a "warmer" take on the classic, and can be enjoyed during the cooler months (but let's be honest, you can drink it anytime..) as it uses spicy cinnamon and freshly squeezed orange juice (which may even make this a great cure for the common cold?)

This is a great anytime cocktail - but be warned: they are pretty dangerous. After a couple of these you might even get "smashed"!


Cinnamon Orange Whiskey Smash

2 oz Whiskey

1/2 Orange, cut in half again 
1/2 oz Cinnamon Simple Syrup
1 Small Orange Peel
1 Cinnamon Stick

Place the orange slices into the bottom of a cocktail shaker and muddle to release the juices. Top shaker with ice and pour in 2 oz of whiskey, & 1/2 oz of cinnamon simple syrup. Shake well and strain into short glass with crushed ice. You can use a blender to crush the ice, or do it the old fashioned way using a ziploc bag and a blunt object (I would not recommend the latter if you've already had a couple of cocktails..)Twist the orange peel to spritz orange zest over glass and use as garnish along with a cinnamon stick, if desired.
