"The Dude" White Russian

The White Russian has always been my go-to night cap, and even more so becomes a regular staple around the holidays (mainly because there always seems to be an unholy amount of coffee liqueur in my cupboard at Christmas time).

While I am fully aware that this cocktail contains ingredients that are the exact opposite of what you should be consuming if you're planning on having a good night's sleep, there is something comforting about the combination of sickly sweet coffee and milk that makes this cocktail a great apres or avant.

If The Big Lebowski taught me anything, it's that the White Russian can be enjoyed anytime, and can even make a great alternative to your morning Irish coffee when the occasion calls for cocktails before breakfast.

For this cocktail, I made a simple syrup infused with local coffee beans. The results were a deliciously bitter-sweet syrup which can be used in this recipe as a complete alternative to the coffee liqueur if desired.

This cocktail is "dude approved" and I hope that you enjoy!

"The Dude" White Russian

1 oz Coffee Simple Syrup
1 oz Whole Milk or Heavy Cream

Pour vodka, coffee liqueur, and coffee simple syrup into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a short glass with a handful of ice cubes. Top glass with milk or cream and stir.
